Intensive Leadership Program
Applications are now being accepted for our 2011-12 program.
The Intensive Leadership Program will provide students with a dynamic learning experience which
includes 14 days in Guatemala (July 23 - August 5) and 3 days stateside (July 18 - 20) prior to the trip.
In Guatemala, students will work on three different work teams: Construction, Hospital, and Reforestation. The Intensive Leadership Program will focus on social justice issues. During the pre-departure Pro-Justice Workshop students will be examining systematic oppression both locally and globally, finding ways to advocate for justice and peace. The Pro-Justice Workshop creates safe space for dialogue surrounding race, gender, class, age, and imperialism. These conversations will continue throughout the trip to Guatemala.
Additionally, you will have opportunities to learn about Guatemala through: experiencing different foods, living with a home-stay family, and participating in excursions to the local market, the Mayan ruins, and the highlands. This is a trip that cultivates hard work, good fun, cultural immersion, social justice and great friendships. We hope that you can be part of it!
Please note: This program is limited to 30 participants who are unable to take part in the yearlong program. There is financial aid available for the Intensive Program, however, it is limited.
