Reagan E J Jackson, Program Manager

Hi. My name is Reagan Jackson and I am the Program Manager for Global Visionaries. Since my first major trip abroad at the age of 16, when I accompanied my mother on a faculty exchange to Saint Louis, Senegal, I have viewed travel as a catalyst for learning and transformation. To that end, I have spent a big chunk of my adult life living, working, and studying abroad in Spain, Japan, and Chile. My three big passions are writing, international education, and social justice. I have a BA in English with a minor in Spanish from the University of Washington. I received my MA in International Education from the SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, VT. My focus was designing and delivering study abroad programs for high school students of color.
I was first introduced to GV during my tenure as the Assistant Director of the Latin American Studies Program at the UW’s Jackson School of International Studies. I attended GV’s Annual Auction and was very impressed by the youth leadership and the tight knit feel of the program participants. It was clear that these students had experienced something powerful during their time in Guatemala. Not only were they energized and well spoken, but their passion had a direction, a forward momentum.
I realized then that GV was no ordinary study abroad program, but rather an unique opportunity to bring people high school kids together from all different backgrounds to empower them to be leaders in their community and in the world. As Program Manager, I am committed to facilitating this process by working directly with our first year participants and also with our youth board. The students provide the drive and the vision; I simply help them acquire the tools necessary to see it through. If you have any questions about me or about the program, please don’t hesitate to email me at: .
